KY Tae Kwon Do Brings Safe Water to Kenya

A local martial arts studio out of Oldham County recently held a unique fundraiser for WaterStep. Master Sean Ramey is the owner and operator of Kentucky Tae Kwon Do and Fitness Academy and he had the idea to host a “kickathon” to give his students the opportunity to raise funds for safe water equipment. Each student collected pledges from friends and family for each kick they made during a 120 second session. On a Saturday morning, the students came in and took turns kicking for safe water.

Once all the students had taken their turn to kick for safe water, the pledges were added up. The total was an astounding $19,432.80! This money was raised in just over an hour by several dozen students. WaterStep is amazed at their success and so thankful the students chose to raise money for our life-saving water projects around the globe.

The funds raised by the students at Kentucky Tae Kwon Do enabled WaterStep to send a shipment of equipment to Kenya. Once in country, these safe water solutions will be distributed to hospitals and clinics to provide safe water and disinfectant.

Thank you Kentucky Tae Kwon Do for partnering with WaterStep to save lives with safe water!
